White Spaghetti (Rylie's name for it)

Tonight we are having Chicken Alfredo or what Rylie likes to call it "White Spaghetti". Its probably not the healthiest but my kids love it! So here's the recipe:

Ingredients:
4 chicken breasts (I vary with this)
1 stick of butter
1 can cream of chicken soup
1 packet of Italian dressing mix
3/4 to 1 package of cream cheese.

In Crockpot put in stick of butter, chicken, and packet of Italian dressing mix. Cook on low for 6-8 hours or high for 4-6 hours. When done stir around and take chicken out and shred. Put cream of chicken soup and cream cheese in crockpot let it melt a little bit stir together then put the shredded chicken back in and stir all together. Thats it! Sometimes I add some milk so the sauce isn't so thick.

Serve of

I serve it over whole wheat spaghetti noodles. Garlic bread tastes really good with this meal and a veggie! Let me know what you think!

  1. We are having pumpkin soup. I still have little pumpkins from our garden--wash off, cut in half, scoop out seeds, bake at 350 (upside down on pans) for 30-45 minutes, then get the gooshy stuff out, put it in a crockpot and add 3 T butter/margarine, onion (1/4 c dry or 1/4 cup chopped), 1 quart chicken broth (or 4 cups water & 4 bouillon cubes), 1/2 tsp black pepper and 1 can evaporated milk. Easy. I think you could use a can of pumpkin in place of the real one--I just need to get rid of mine.

  2. One more thought--with the soup we are having, we'll have toast. Rolls are good too.

When we do Chicken Fettuccini, here's how we do it:
1 chicken breast (steamed in rice cooker & shredded)
    6 T butter, divided
4 cloves garlic (or garlic powder)
    1 T Italian seasoning
pasta (we use 1.5 lbs but you could use less)
    1/4 c dry onion
    1/3 c flour
    1 T salt
    3/4 t pepper
    3 cups whole milk
    1 cup milk
1/2 cup dry milk powder (optional)
    8 oz shredded cheese
After steaming the chicken, I like to cook it on the stove with 2 T butter, garlic and Italian seasoning. Set aside.
    Boil water and cook pasta
Melt 4 T butter in skillet, add onion, garlic, flour, salt and pepper and cook two minutes. Slowly add milk and stir until smooth and creamy. Add cheese, stir till melted. Add other stuff in and serve from one pot (or not, depending on how you like it.)

  3. I'll have to try this one! I have a bunch of Italian dressing packets so this could be a good way to use them up! Have you ever made it with a bottle of Italian dressing vs. butter/packet?
